How To Host An Indoor Safari Birthday Party For Kids

It's hard to find a child who doesn't love animals. For your kid's next birthday party, prepare to have a roaring bash by having a Safari party indoors. This kind of theme is mostly held outside, but this time, you will see that you can still have fun even if you don't have a backyard. This concept is perfect for people who don't plan on renting another venue, and have ample space at home to accommodate guests.

Birthday parties are usually set late in the afternoon, but consider having it at night this time so that your child's guests can fully feel the whole safari vibe. For invitations, you can create a little booklet that looks like a passport. Place the detail of the party inside so that they would easily know when and where the party would be. Print out a rough map of your neighbourhood and change the names of familiar landmarks to Safari-themed names. Send out the map and the passport invitation, but if you are really feeling extravagant, include a tiny Safari jeep in the package. If you can't find inexpensive miniature toy jeeps, you can print out a cartoon drawing from the internet and cut out the design.

Kids Toy Boxes

There are a lot of unique, but entertaining activities you can do for this theme. Buy miniature safari animals from your favorite toy store and hide them around the house. Let the kids hunt for these animals, but don't stop there. Once they've found an animal piece, they should take it to your Animal Reserve booth. The reserve ranger in the booth should ask the hunter to identify what animal he or she has found and what sound does it make. If he or she gets it right, they would get to keep the figure and they will also get an additional prize.

Animal face painting is really popular to children during safari birthday parties. Have a little corner where they can transform themselves to their animal of choice. You can also tie up an animal impression contest to this activity. After their face painting session, they would have to do an impression of the animal they have chosen. At the end of the party, you can have a best animal impression award. You can also give out another prize for the guest who has sustained the impression all throughout the party.

There are a lot of possible food options you can take for this party. If you are going to held it at night, you should serve something hearty because your little guests may have not eaten any dinner yet. You can prepare water buffalo burgers from regular beef patties. You can also include some ostrich nuggets using chicken meat. If you can find a place where to rent one, you should also include a chocolate fountain in the menu. Call it Choco Falls to fit the theme, and let the children enjoy it by dipping some pretzel logs.

People would usually just use simple animal-shaped cakes, but there's nothing extraordinary about them. Instead of serving a standard cake, build a cupcake jungle instead. Decorate your cupcakes to make the top look like an animal's head. Just like in a real safari, be sure to use a variety of animals in your design. Find some toy tree models and use them to decorate a side table or a large cupcake stand. Make it look like a small forest landscape by filling it with a lot of details. Right after you've decorated the background, set your animal cupcakes in place. While you're doing it, be sure to spread them around. This would make the sweet animals look like they're imitating their real life counterparts.

Be artistic and open your imagination when decorating your venue. Since you are not going to use the outdoors, you should give it the right ambiance instead. Fill your entrance with a lot of potted plants, vines and ferns. This would make your guest feel like they've just step into a hunting lodge after trekking through an actual Safari. Instead of preparing kiddie seats, put some animal print throw pillows in the floor and accent it with the colors brown, cream and orange. Set some lamps at the corner of the room and stick some paper animal figures inside the lamp head. Turn off your regular lights and you would see that they have created animal silhouettes around the room. Don't forget to include your standard jungle music to complete the whole scheme.
